US Open: how many Ukrainian women will perform at the WTA Grand Slam tournament
The US Open 2020 will start on August 31. The tournament will feature 9 of the best tennis players in the world, as well as 6 Ukrainians.
Big sport is slowly returning to normal life. So tennis is also out of quarantine. The first major tournament will be the US Open 2020, which will be held on American courts. Five Ukrainian women have entered the main draw of the Grand Slam tournament at the US Open 2020.
Elina Svitolina (WTA 5), who is the best tennis player in Ukraine, also managed to send an application at the last moment, thanks to which 9 representatives of the top 10 will perform in the USA. Only Ashley Barty, the world’s first racket, is missing. The Australian repeatedly warned that she feared a new disease and advised to hurry with the decision to resume sports.
Elina will be represented in Ukraine by Katerina Bondarenko (WTA 85 SR), Diana Yastremskaya (WTA 25), Katerina Kozlova (WTA 89) and Katarina Zavatskaya (WTA 105).
The US Open is scheduled to take place between August 31 and September 13.
Recall another major tennis tournament has been canceled due to the coronavirus.
