Ukrainians and their employers who violated self-isolation will be punished by the Estonian Ministry of Internal Affairs

This was reported by Ukrinform with reference to the press service of PJSC NEK Ukrenergo.

Such results in the company were explained by intensive introduction of new RES capacities during the last and in the first half of this year and decrease in the level of consumption.

«As a result, the installed capacity of RES has doubled (from 2.9 GW in June 2019 to 5.8 — in June 2020). This growth is explained by the legally established economic incentives for the construction of RES, in particular, the «green» tariff and the guaranteed purchase by the state of electricity produced from RES, «the press service said.

At the same time, in the structure of production in the first half of the year the share of TPPs decreased by 5%, and the shares of NPPs and other types of generation did not change.

Total production in the power system decreased by 8%, and consumption (net) — by almost 5% compared to the first half of last year.

Ukrenergo named two warm reasons for the decline in electricity production and consumption in 2020 as a warm winter and the introduction of quarantine restrictions in Ukraine and in the world in March.

«The largest reduction in electricity production in the first half of the year occurred at NPPs (-7.7%), TPPs (-24%) and HPPs (-26.3%),» Ukrenergo said.

As reported by Ukrinform, in 2019 in Ukraine there was a significant increase in the number of producers of electricity from renewable energy sources (RES). According to the National Commission for Regulation of Economic Competition, as of July 1, 2019, there were 325 business entities in Ukraine that received licenses for the right to implement economic activities for the production of electricity. As of December 31, there were already 867.

In April 2020, the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection of Ukraine proposed a new Forecast Energy Balance of Electricity Production and Consumption in the Power System of Ukraine for 2020. The energy balance provides for a proportional reduction in electricity production by nuclear, hydro and thermal generation. According to the document, the projected electricity production by nuclear power plants was reduced by 7 billion kWh (by 8.6%) to 73.7 billion kWh.
