Ukraine has received a visa-free regime with another country in the Caribbean
The abductors were detained as part of a special police operation. The actions of the attackers were described by police investigators under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. According to the court decision, they were taken into custody.
The Smilyansk police department received a report that unknown individuals had inflicted severe bodily injuries on a local resident in the town of Smila. According to the victim, he was abducted by three men under the threat of a weapon. Initially, the attackers illegally kept the man in their car, and then — in the garage. The kidnappers tied up the victim and beat him, and then took him to the shore of the reservoir. There they shot him several times and disappeared from the scene.
The victim was in serious condition, so he could not clearly describe the attackers and their car. However, the man was able to recall that the offenders were traveling in a white minibus.
After working out the place where the attackers left the victim, the police found and seized a number of pieces of material evidence, which later led the police to track down the perpetrators. While processing video from surveillance cameras in the city of Smila, law enforcement officers also found a car in which the kidnappers were traveling.
After gathering the necessary evidence and establishing the whereabouts of the attackers, the police detained them. The men turned out to be residents of Smila and Smilyansky district. During an authorized search of the suspects, police found and confiscated a carbine, a hunting rifle, two pistols, and clothing with traces of blood. A car used by criminals during the commission of a criminal offense was also seized.
Investigators of the Cherkasy region police under the procedural guidance of the Smilyansk local prosecutor’s office announced to the detainees that they were suspected of committing criminal offenses under Part 3 of Art. 146 (Unlawful deprivation of liberty or kidnapping), Part 2 of Art. 187 (Robbery) and Part 2 of Art. 121 (Intentional grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal code of Ukraine.
The court chose to prevent the perpetrators in the form of detention. The suspect faces up to ten years in prison with confiscation of property.
