The number of people infected with COVID-19 is growing in Ternopil region
In recent days, a large number of new cases of COVID-19 infection have been recorded in the Ternopil region. More and more patients require medical care and go to hospitals. As a result, hospitals that have been repurposed to accept coronavirus patients are overcrowded.
The director of hospital Pavel Nartov reported about it, transfers referring to Ukrinform.
According to him, the hospital consumes more than 100 oxygen cylinders every day, while in previous years this figure did not exceed 24 cylinders per month.
«Right now we can’t accommodate more patients. Because now they are patients with a severe course. Patients on oxygen therapy, who at any time can be resuscitated by mechanical ventilation. Now our hospital is almost 50% resuscitation. We have ventilators in ordinary departments, because people need help, ” Said Nartov.
In the past 24 hours alone, 184 new cases of infection have been registered in the region. In Ternopil hospitals 60 patients are in serious condition. All of them are connected to respirators or receive the help of an oxygen concentrator. The Region writes about it.
All beds in the regional physiopulmonology center, which was specially prepared for the reception of patients with coronavirus, are occupied. In addition, there are two more district hospitals, Zbarazh and Shumsk. 6 more hospitals are being prepared to be launched in Zboriv, Pidhayetsk, Terebovlya, Borshchiv and Ternopil districts.
Hospital bed occupancy increased from 34% to 51%. In this regard, an extraordinary meeting of the State Commission on Technogenic and Ecological Safety and Emergencies was held on August 20. At this meeting, the zoning of settlements was reviewed. From midnight on August 24, Ternopil, Chortkiv, Berezhany, Ternopil and Berezhany districts will fall into the orange zone. Buchach, Husiatyn, Zalishchyk, Zbarazh, Kazov, Lanovets, Pidvolochysk, Terebovlya and Chortkiv districts will be yellow.
