The French government has increased benefits to 3 million families by the beginning of the school year

This was stated by Interior Minister Arsen Avakov during a meeting on preparations for the local elections, Ukrinform reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the National Police, the Office of the President and the civil network OPORA.

«The Ministry of Internal Affairs is ready to ensure law and order in terms of election legislation to the highest standards. We have the relevant experience of previous years, when the work of law enforcement during the election process was highly valued, and the election process itself received the highest marks from the European community — in terms of compliance with all democratic standards, «said Avakov.

The participants of the meeting discussed the issues of improving the election legislation, eliminating attempts to illegally influence the election process, as well as analyzed a number of cases of initial violations and coordination of efforts to counter such attempts.

According to the head of OPORA Olga Aivazovska, one of the important points of amendments to the Electoral Code should be to reduce the duration of police protection of polling stations, which is now 8 days.

«It doesn’t make any sense, because in fact the police will guard the empty polling stations,» Aivazovska said. In her opinion, the provisions of the Electoral Code regarding the provision of unreliable information to the State Register of Voters also need clarification.

«Now, for example, a passport desk can be responsible for inaccurate information… We say that the same responsibility should be borne by the voter himself, if he provided inaccurate information about himself,» Aivazovska said.

It was noted at the meeting that such isolated cases have already been recorded in Odesa, Lviv, Zhytomyr and Kharkiv oblasts.

«These facts are under the control of the National Police, which will take appropriate measures to respond. We must not allow them to become mass or to influence the democratic will of Ukrainians, «Avakov stressed.

Relevant amendments to the Electoral Code will be proposed for consideration by MPs on August 25, during an extraordinary session of the Verkhovna Rada.

As reported, local elections in Ukraine will be held on October 25. Citizens will elect deputies of local councils — village and settlement, city, district and regional, district in cities, as well as the mayor of Kyiv and mayors of almost all cities, villages and territorial communities.
