Under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office, police investigators detained and took to court to choose a measure of restraint for a director of a commercial structure suspected of illegal destruction of a state-owned property and causing damage amounting to UAH 20 million (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code). ).
In April of this year, the said person was informed about the suspicion of illegal dismantling and destruction of an integral property complex located in the village of Pukhivka, Kyiv region. In 2008, it was transferred to the company for long-term lease, subject to return to the state after the expiration of the contract. At the time of the lease, the Zhuravushka sanatorium and a children’s camp were functioning on the territory of the complex.
From August 2017 to the present, the tenant has illegally, without the knowledge and consent of government agencies, carried out the actual destruction of this property. The conducted examinations established losses to the state in the amount of about UAH 20 million.
Due to the fact that after the notification of suspicion, the businessman began to hide from law enforcement agencies, he was declared wanted and a detention permit was obtained for delivery to court in order to choose a measure of restraint.
Police located the suspect and detained him. The issue of choosing a measure of restraint for him is currently being resolved.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is being carried out by investigators of the Holosiivskyi Police Department of the State Unitary Enterprise of the National Police in Kyiv under the operational support of the Security Service of Ukraine.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and may not be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proved in a lawful manner and established by a court conviction.
