Police expose a criminal organization whose members illegally sold four tons of gunpowder from a state-owned enterprise (VIDEO)
During today’s searches in eight oblasts, half a ton of explosives, weapons, ammunition, as well as money and documents used to legalize the write-off of explosives at one of the state-owned enterprises were seized. More than half a thousand law enforcement officers were involved in the searches.
The activities of the criminal organization were documented by investigators of the Main Investigation Department and operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine under the procedural guidance of prosecutors of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
It was established that the attackers created an extensive network of gunpowder supply during the year. They received the explosive from a state-owned enterprise and, using business entities engaged in the treatment and disposal of hazardous waste, sold the «goods» with the help of one of the postal operators. In the last eight months alone, criminals have illegally sold more than four tons of explosives, earning about 4 million hryvnias in illegal proceeds.
During the documentation of the illegal activities of the members of the criminal group, the police conducted more than thirty control purchases. In addition, law enforcement officers received samples of substances for examination, conducted appropriate expert studies and carried out other necessary investigative and investigative actions.
Today, July 15, investigators and police operatives together with prosecutors conducted fifty searches in Lviv, Sumy, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy, Donetsk, Kyiv and Kherson regions. More than 500 law enforcement officers were involved in the proceedings.
During the searches, more than half a ton of explosives, weapons, ammunition and equipment for their manufacture were seized. Money and documents with which the attackers legalized the write-off of explosives at state-owned enterprises were also confiscated.
Currently, the members of the criminal group are preparing to receive reports of suspicion of illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives, committed by a group of persons — Part 3, Art. 28, part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal code of Ukraine. The issue of choosing preventive measures in the form of detention for criminals is also being resolved.
