Police are investigating the circumstances of a fatal accident on the Odessa-Reni highway

A minor boy died in the accident, and his mother was hospitalized with head injuries.

The event took place last night, August 22, between the villages of Kholmske and Kyrnychky.

It was previously established that a 43-year-old resident of Izmail district and his family were returning from the regional center in a Renault Kadett. Before reaching the village of Kyrnychky, on 181 km of the Odessa-Reni highway, the driver lost control and collided with a bumper. As a result of a traffic accident, his 6-year-old son died at the scene before the doctors arrived. The wife was taken to a medical facility with a head injury. The driver and his 17-year-old daughter were slightly injured.

On the fact of a traffic accident, investigators initiated criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (violation of traffic safety rules or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. A number of examinations were ordered as part of the pre-trial investigation. A pre-trial investigation is underway.
