Militiamen promptly detained the suspect in theft of property of the summer Odessa resident

It took police two hours to solve the high-profile crime. An unknown person stabbed the man in the middle of the street. The victim managed to escape and ask for help from passers-by. On «hot tracks» operatives established the identity of the malefactor and detained him.

Yesterday, August 19, at 7:35 am, the police received a report that an unknown person had stabbed a 25-year-old resident of Kalmiuski district in the throat.

An investigative task force and police leadership went to the scene.

During the search operations, officers from the Kalmyk branch and the Central Police Department searched for and interrogated witnesses to the crime, and the victim provided a description of the attacker’s appearance.

Police recreated the course of events: the attacker witnessed the conflict between his roommate and a stranger. After that, without hesitation, he took out a knife and hit the young man with it.

The attacker was a 48-year-old local resident, who has a criminal record for causing bodily injuries that resulted in death.

To avert suspicion, the attacker hid a knife, and he tried to be concealed home.

The defendant was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Material evidence has now been removed.

Opened criminal proceedings on the grounds of Part 2 of Art. 15 Part 1 of Art. 115 of the Criminal code of Ukraine (Attempted murder). He faces up to 15 years in prison for the crime.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
