Kyiv police officers are establishing the circumstances of a fatal car accident on Stolychny Highway

As a result of the collision of two vehicles, 4 people died, including two children. Law enforcement officers detained the offending driver, and criminal proceedings have been instituted on this fact.

Yesterday at 5:20 p.m., the Minsk police received a report of a traffic accident with the victims on Stolychny Shosse. The Investigative Task Force to investigate the accident of the capital’s police, patrol police crews and doctors immediately went to the scene.

It was previously established that the driver of the Mercedes car collided with another car moving in the opposite direction. After that, he drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with a Hyundai car. As a result of the incident, the driver and passengers of the Hyundai car, including two young children, died. The boy, born in 2006, was taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

A 39-year-old driver of a Mercedes car was detained under Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He is currently in hospital.

According to this fact, criminal proceedings have been instituted under Part 3 of Art. 286 (Violation of rules of safety of traffic or operation of transport by the persons driving vehicles) of the Criminal code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years. As part of the pre-trial investigation, police are establishing all the circumstances and causes of this fatal car accident.

Investigators are currently preparing a report on suspicion of committing a crime. Also, the police, in agreement with the prosecutor’s office, will apply to the court with a request to choose a measure of restraint in the form of detention.
