In Uzhgorod, police detained a robber who cut an elderly man (video) | StopCor

On July 16, at about 5 pm, the police received a report of a daring robbery that took place on Kapushanska Street in the regional center of Zakarpattia. At the scene, police found that an unknown person had attacked a 75-year-old pensioner, inflicted bodily injuries on him, confiscated a bag with documents, money and a mobile phone.

The victim of the crime was taken to a medical facility for necessary assistance, and the police began searching for the criminal, who dared to attack an elderly man in broad daylight.

Within minutes, patrol police officers detained a 39-year-old previously convicted resident of the village of Shyshlovtsi in the Uzhhorod region. Police confiscated a stolen mobile phone from the defendant. The injured pensioner also recognized his attacker and confirmed to police that he was the victim of the man they had detained.

Currently, investigators have launched criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, ie robbery. The victim is feeling well and was taken home to his relatives. According to Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, the attacker was placed in a temporary detention center. Investigators under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor’s office are preparing the necessary materials to notify the detainee of the suspicion and will ask the court to choose a measure of restraint against him, according to the police of the Zakarpattia region, reports «About the West».
