In the occupied Crimea, COVID-19 was confirmed in 20 more days

This was reported by Ukrinform with reference to the information of the Crimean human rights group Facebook.

«A new coronavirus infection has been laboratory confirmed in 18 people in Crimea over the past 24 hours,» the CPG said in a statement, citing the occupying «authorities» of Crimea.

A total of 1,323 cases of new coronavirus infection have been registered in the ARC (excluding Sevastopol) for the current period.

In Sevastopol, according to the occupation «authorities» of the city, as of the morning of August 4, two new cases of COVID-19 were registered. The diagnosis was confirmed in a woman who came to Sevastopol on vacation. Another positive test showed a local resident.

Since the beginning of the year, 356 people have fallen ill with COVID-19 in Sevastopol. A total of 1,679 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed on the Crimean peninsula.

As reported, in the occupied Crimea over the past two weeks there has been a sharp increase in the incidence of coronavirus, which is likely due to the arrival of tourists from regions of Russia, including Moscow and St. Petersburg, where the largest number in Russia is infected with COVID-19.

According to experts from the Crimean Human Rights Group, official public statistics on the incidence of coronavirus on the peninsula are understated because it does not reflect data on those infected in the Russian army and law enforcement agencies, as well as patients with community-acquired pneumonia.
