The man was charged with an offense under Part 2 of Art. 350 (violence against a citizen performing public duty) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
We will remind that on July 9 on a crosswalk in the Seaside area of Odessa the unknown attacked the victim and beat him.
Law enforcement officers analyzed video from surveillance cameras, interviewed witnesses, eyewitnesses and conducted a number of other investigative measures. It was established that immediately after the attack, the attacker ran into a store a few hundred meters from the crime scene. And then took a taxi in an unknown direction.
Within days, the offender, a 29-year-old resident of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, was identified and detained by detectives and the Strategic Investigations Department in Odesa Oblast, together with investigators from the Shevchenkivskyi Police Department and under the procedural guidance of the Oblast Prosecutor’s Office.
In order to avoid punishment, he tried to provide himself with an alibi, convincing that at the time of the attack he was in an apartment he was temporarily renting in Odessa. Despite this, law enforcement officers managed to gather substantiated evidence of his involvement in the offense.
Currently, the man was informed about the suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 350 (violence against a citizen performing public duty) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The Primorsky District Court chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention.
