Investigators from the Kramatorsk State Bureau of Investigation have exposed a Foreign Intelligence Service official and a former serviceman for storing and purchasing ammunition without a legal permit.
According to the pre-trial investigation, the colonel of the SZR, on the instructions of a former serviceman of the State Border Guard Service, illegally removed ammunition from the area of environmental protection. According to the investigation, the ammunition was stolen by a former border guard during his service in 2015-2017, and stored in a rented garage in Severodonetsk. Attempts to export these ammunition exposed the «carriers» of weapons.
During the search in the official car of the SZR official, almost 6,000 cartridges of 5.45 caliber, more than 4,000 rounds of 7.62 caliber, 4 RPG-26 grenades, 1 RPG-22 anti-tank grenade, 5 unified hand grenade fuels, 5 RGD-5 grenades and grenade F-1.
Both defendants were informed about the suspicion of illegal handling of ammunition (Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The issue of choosing a measure of restraint against them in the form of detention is currently being resolved.
Urgent investigative (search) actions are underway to identify potential buyers of ammunition and other persons involved in the illegal scheme.
If convicted, the suspect faces imprisonment for a term of 3 to 7 years.
