An indictment was filed against the police sector of the patrol police response of the Sarny police department of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in Rivne region.
The investigation established that since November 2019, the law enforcement officer has systematically demanded illegal benefits from the citizen. For the money, he promised not to take measures to stop illegal miningto a citizen of raw amber and not to draw him to the kryliability for specified actions. Thus, the man had to provide the police with $ 200 per day for each piece of equipment (motor pump).
DBR investigators documented the fact that the official received an illegal benefit in the amount of more than 12,000 hryvnias.
On May 14, 2020, investigators searched the place of work and residence of the police officer, as well as the place of possible storage of amber. As a result, tools for processing amber and more than 150 kg of raw amber worth about 275,000 hryvnias were found and seized.
Thus, the militiaman is accused of requesting to provide and receiving an illegal benefit by an official for failure of such an official in the interests of the person who provides an illegal benefit of actions using the power granted to him and official position combined with extortion (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code). .
The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to 3 years, with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings was carried out by investigators from the territorial office of the State Bureau of Investigation, located in the city of Khmelnytsky.
