A woman suspected of human trafficking has been taken into custody (PHOTOS) StopCor

The court remanded the said person in custody.

Circumstances of the case

According to Tetyana Krasinska, deputy head of the regional prosecutor’s office, the pre-trial investigation established that in February 2020, a Ukrainian citizen conspired with other people with the intention of trafficking in human beings and recruiting women for sexual exploitation. The said citizen had to look for women in the territory of Kharkiv who, due to difficult personal circumstances, could agree to engage in prostitution and then send them abroad.

July 8 in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, this person was detained while trying to transport four women to Warsaw, from where they were to fly to the Republic of Malta. On the same day she was informed of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 2 of Art. 149 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by investigators of the SU GUNP in the Kharkiv region, operational support — USR in the Kharkiv region DSR of the National Police of Ukraine.

The woman faces imprisonment for a term of five to twelve years with or without confiscation of property.

We will remind, according to Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and may not be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proved in a lawful manner and established by a court conviction.
